nice to meet you.
Hi, I’m Jamie. I’m a mixed-race, queer artist raised in the Pacific Northwest. I immigrated to Scotland during the pandemic and currently live in Glasgow with my husband and our three quadrupedal children. I love thick tree lines, constellations, red sunrises, cosy fleece, and oat flat whites.
Since childhood, I’ve engaged in several artistic mediums—drawing, writing, composing, dancing, acting…can you tell I’m an air sign? Now I mostly write and voice act and occasionally indulge myself by combining the two.
My artistic focus is on diversifying narrative perspectives and contributing to the archive of contemporary queer stories. I believe that gay representation should not be sterilised to be acceptable, nor fetishised to make an impact. I’m particularly drawn to characters who exist in the moral grey, and often find myself weaving societal commentary into the fabric of my creative work.
I also have a keen interest in early modern British history, a love for anthromorphism, and a mild obsession with sad gay old men. I cherish long discussions about gothic themes and religious hypocrisy almost as much as I enjoy absurdist memes about them.
Questions? Interested in collaborating? Curious about my favourite desserts? Feel free to get in touch!
telling stories is how I breathe.
Mommy issues. A superficial relationship with God. Gay clowns. The final thoughts of a demolished building. Astrology, pulled inside-out and washed in cold water, tumble dry low. I like to write about how human something can be, even if it hasn’t got a soul.
